Ben is the Veterinary Technician who has been here the longest! He has been working with us since April of 2014, and has been working as a Veterinary Technician since 2001. He chose to start taking classes relating to the Veterinary Technician career during high school and knew that this was the career he wanted to do for the rest of his life! He has always been great with both kids and pets, so it came naturally for him. His current goals within the Animal Industry include completing the Veterinary Technician’s Program through Penn Foster and becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. He is currently certified as a Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional (CFVP) through the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). Ben is also Fear Free Certified.
Ben is a Pet Parent himself, and has two Cats at home. Gobbler is an 11-year-old Domestic Shorthair Orange Tabby, and Hugh is a 7-year-old Domestic Shorthair Tabby. Within the clinic he takes fantastic care of our Clinic Cats Lola, Estebean, and Leo, but everyone knows Leo is definitely his favorite and vice versa. He can often be seen playing, petting, and brushing Leo to make sure he looks his absolute best! They are truly inseparable!
Ever since high school Ben has loved Skateboarding. He finds it his way to relieve stress and be himself around people who feel the same way as he does. The Lauridsen Skatepark is his new favorite place to hang out and have a good time! He also was previously in a Band called Spacecamp of which he was the lead singer! Ben’s favorite animals are all Cats and Miniature Schnauzers, and is especially drawn to the calm and quiet pets, although we don’t see much of those in the office! To any new pet parents, Ben recommends to make sure and be financially prepared to get a pet, which includes looking into lifetime costs of pets as they can be more surprising then one thinks.
