Veterinary Assistant and Registered Apprentice
Erin has been working with us since February of 2021 as a Veterinary Assistant and is a Registered Apprentice. She has been in the Veterinary Industry since early 2019 but has been involved in the Animal Industry since 2010, specializing animal husbandry and research in marine ecosystems. She’s lived in Des Moines her entire life and attended DMACC majoring in Arts and Science. Previously she has worked at the Blank Park Zoo as an intern, as well as an Animal Shelter in the area. Upon asking why she went into the Veterinary field, she replied saying “I lost my first dog when I was 22, I wanted to be able to provide care the way I was cared for during that time.” Since working at Family Pet, Erin has taken a special interest in anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry and works closely with Dr. Jen’s during advanced dentistry procedures. She is currently certified as a Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional (CFVP) through the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).
Erin shares her home life with her husband and their son, who they welcomed in October 2022, her two dogs and 3 cats. She spends her free with her family and pets, enjoying life! Erin's care for pets both at home and in the clinic reflect her caring and compassionate nature.
Erin's advice to all pet owners is to seek advice from your pet's veterinarian about the best diet for them, diet is an extremely important component of your pets life.
