Lead Veterinary Technician
Sarah was raised right here in the heart of West Des Moines where she attended elementary, middle, and high school. During high school her favorite activity was archery. In 2016, her senior year, she was Top 5 in the State for Compound Bow Target Archery. She even came back and coached her school's archery team. Also in high school, she started working here at Family Pet as one of the part-time boarding staff until 2017 when she headed off to college. She attended DMACC from 2017 to 2019 when she earned her Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology and became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). While attending college she met her now-current Fiancé, Cassie. They met in the same class and connected over their mutual love of animals and the animal industry. Sarah spends her time at home reading science fiction or baking. She always brings plenty of snacks for the office during holidays and birthdays as well! When she's not doing those things, she's most likely keeping her two personal pets out of trouble. She has a Female black and white longhaired cat named Pam and a Male, also black and white, Lhasa Apso mix dog named Oreo.
She started working at Family Pet straight out of college in 2019 and has been with us ever since! Sarah hopes to continue expanding her knowledge and gaining experience as a Veterinary Technician. One of her goals is to complete her Fear Free Certification Program and become registered as Fear Free. Sarah is currently certified as a Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional (CFVP) through the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). She suggests to always try and make the vet a good experience and a fun place so both you and your pet will be excited to come back for your next appointment!
